Darren Aronofsky’s Noah movie is due to release at the end of the week on March 28. There has been both praise and criticism from all sides. There are those who laud the movie as daring and inspiring, and those condemning it as the least biblical Bible film of all time. We read of the movie having an aggressive environmentalist agenda and we read of it being “true to the spirit of the Bible” while receiving a blessing from Pope Francis. Popular Christian personalities have both applauded the film and denounced it. For me personally, I will renounce any judgement until I’ve seen the movie. It will be intriguing to see how an atheist director portrays Scripture on the big screen. This could be a concern for many Christians, though it shouldn’t be. It’s important to keep in mind, our God can and does use the godless to advance His kingdom. He can promote Truth through the nonbeliever, unbeknownst to the nonbeliever. It will be interesting to see the box office metrics post release, and the general response from Christians and non-Christians alike. I, for one, am excited to see it and have been for some time now. As we progress towards the release date, feel free to check out the diversity of popular opinion concerning the film below.
